The Church of the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus in Nakło Śląskie

Apart from the summer palace of the Donnersmarcks of the Nakło and Siemianowice line, we can find an interesting church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus and the adjacent mausoleum of the Donnersmarck family. They also founded here a nursing home run by the Sisters of Mercy of St Borromeo. The church is a unique, brick building, built in the late nineteenth century in the neo-Romanesque style with some Byzantine elements.

Nakło Śląskie
The first palace in Nakło Śląskie not far from Tarnowskie Góry was built by Hugo von Donnersmarck of the Bytom-Siemianowice lineage of this wealthy, Catholic family in 1856. The form of the present-day neo-Gothic residence results from the renovation carried out by Lazarus IV von Donnermarck in 1890s. The palace houses the Centrum Kultury Śląskiej (Silesian Culture Center) which presents the historical exhibition. The park with surrounding outbuildings is also worth seeing.
Tarnowskie Góry
In the interwar period, Tarnowskie Góry became the biggest railway node in Poland. It was just from here that coal, the main important export commodity of the Polish state, was sent into the world. However, the history of rail transport in Tarnowskie Góry dates back to the 1850s. In 1888, a new train station building was opened here, which was designed by Robert Hönsch, an architect from Wrocław, in the neo-Renaissance style.

Camillians Fathers were brought to Upper Silesia in the early twentieth century to fight the rampant scourge of alcoholism. They settled in Tarnowskie Góry, where they built Saint John’s Infirmary, intended to the treatment of alcohol dependence. In addition to the hospital, the cloister and the church of Saint John the Baptist were erected. All the buildings form a compact complex, decorated in the neo-Gothic style.
Tarnowskie Góry
The Main Post Office in Tarnowskie Góry is housed in one of the largest buildings of the city, erected in 1909 according to the design of Hane, a Berlin architect, at the one of the finest streets of the city, now bearing the name of Marshal Piłsudski. The building was erected in a fairly rapid pace. Its architecture combines elements of Art Nouveau and neoBaroque. To this day, it has retained some interior decorations. It was listed as a monument in 1996.
Tarnowskie Góry
The Classicist palace in Tarnowskie Góry Karłuszowiec is an impressive building. Its present look results from a nineteenth-century reconstruction. From the mid-eighteenth century until the end of WW2, the residence belonged to the Donnersmarcks, a powerful family of the Siemianowice-Bytom line, whose members were the owners of large estates and a number of industrial plants. At present, the palace houses a complex of schools of art and design.
Tarnowskie Góry
Krakowska Street is one of the most elegant in Tarnowskie Góry. For centuries, it was an important thoroughfare leading from the city to the East. It was changed in the nineteenth century, when town houses with smart shops on the ground floor were built. Many of these buildings were erected in historical styles, although we also encounter Art Nouveau and Eclectic houses. The eastern exit of the street is crowned with the historic building of the Stanisław Staszic 2nd Comprehensive Secondary School.

Accommodation
Biskupice
Powstaliśmy 10 lat temu, aby spełnić nasze marzenia. Te związane z muzyką, końmi, jurą krakowsko – częstochowską i restauracją… Zapraszamy ! Zobaczcie je z nami.
Olsztyn
