In the very heart of Bytom, near the Kosciuszko Square, we will find an elegant building of the District Court and – what is quite unusual in such a big city - a historic complex of the buildings of the prison. The courthouse and the prison were erected in the mid-nineteenth century. The designer of the Neo-Gothic buildings was Paul Jackisch. In 1894, the old courthouse was replaced by a new magnificent and elegant building in the style of Northern neo-Renaissance.
