The New Jewish Cemetery at Piekarska Street in Bytom is one of the few active cemeteries in Silesia. It was established in the 60s of the nineteenth century, during the industrial boom in Bytom, which resulted in the influx of Jews into the city. In the cemetery, there are almost 1500 graves. Eight hundred burials have survived, including those of the distinguished inhabitants of Bytom, such as the families of the Loewich and Friedlaender families. A lapidary was created from the tombstones from the old Bytom cemetery.
