The III Workers' Colony in Knurów is the best preserved patron settlements in this part of Upper Silesia from the beginning of last century. The colony was built for the workers of the coal mine "Knurów" to the north of its site. The first plans were prepared by renowned urban planner, Karl Henrici. Until 1921, only the northern part of the settlement was built. It comprised 90 houses for the workers, five houses for the clerks and a number of accompanying facilities.
