Nowy Bytom, popularly known as Fryna in the Silesian language because of its former name – Frynsztad, is a district of Ruda Śląska. It is situated in the eastern part of the city. The settlement evolved only in the nineteenth and twentieth century. In 1911, a monumental church of Saint Paul was built in the center of the village. Architect Johannes Franziskus Klomp created an uncommon work, representing mainly the neo-Romanesque style, together with some early Christian and Byzantine elements.
