The village of Ślemień lies in the valley of the Łękawka stream, which separates the southern slopes of the Little Beskids from the Pewelskie Range of the Little Beskids. The beginnings of settlement in these areas date to the thirteenth century. One of the monuments of the village is the church of Saint John the Baptist, which was built in the mid-nineteenth century. This building is not the first the local church, but stands on the site of the earlier wooden shrines successively constructed here.
