The buildings housing the District Court offices in Katowice and a former prison complex (now a remand center) are located in the city center, in the vicinity of the intersection of Andrzeja and Mikołowska Streets. The building, which originally housed the Royal District Court, consists of two parts built in 1889 and 1913 respectively. At the turn of the twentieth century, a complex of the prison buildings with the residences of the prison governor and guards were also erected in the vicinity.
