The origins of the workers colonies in Upper Silesia date
back to mid-eighteenth century, when, together with the
industrial development, the Prussian authorities launched a
settlement campaign. The colony located in Chorzów at
present Kalidego Street in Chorzów is one of the oldest in
Silesia. It was established in the late eighteenth century,
when the town of Królewska Huta was founded. Several
buildings have been preserved to our time.
