The village of Bestwina, which is a village and the seat of the commune, is located in the district of Bielsko. The first mention of the village dates back to 1326, so does its name, although it is believed that the village is much older. At the time of Mieszko I, there was a settlement of the Vistulans here. The Polish troops under the command of king John III Sobieski passed through Bestwina on their way to Vienna. From the nineteenth century to the Second World War, the village belonged to the Habsburg Żywiec, who in the 20s of the XIX century built a palace here.
