Stara Wieś
Stara Wieś is located in the commune of Wilamowice, on the Skowronka river, in the picturesque surroundings of fish ponds. The origins of the village date back to the thirteenth century, when Duke Mieszko II of Cieszyn told someone named William to settle newcomers from all over, including Western Europe. Among several historic buildings worth seeing here, there is an old, wooden school building, which houses an ethnographic exhibition.
Stara Wieś
In the village of Stara Wieś, located in the commune of Wilamowice, in the district of Bielsko, it is worthwhile to see several monuments, including a manor house. The manor house, dating from the second half of the eighteenth century, was erected on the site of an earlier, sixteenth-century building. At the present time, the manor house is unfortunately much neglected, which was due to the years of the communist regime, during which the mansion was the seat of the cooperative, called "Postęp". Near the mansion, a monumental oak tree has survived.
The huge silhouette of the Church of the Holy Trinity towers over Wilamowice, a beautiful town with an interesting history, located to the north of Bielsko-Biała. The first church was erected in the town in the Middle Ages. The present one was started in 1923. The construction was completed after several years. The Wilamowice church refers to the soaring Gothic style, and inside there is a real gem - a huge neo-Gothic altar, the work of life of Kazimierz Danek.
Located in the district of Bielsko, Wilamowice is undoubtedly one of the most interesting towns in the province. It was founded in the mid thirteenth century by the settlers from Friesland and Flanders and from other Western European countries. For centuries, a unique dialect, clothes and customs have been preserved here. The village has also a number of historic buildings, which include houses in the market square and in several other places. Wilamowice lies on the Wooden Architecture Route.
A colorful patch of the Land of the Rising Sun can be seen without going on a long and expensive journey. In Pisarzowice, at Antoni Pudełko’s Ornamental Shrubs Nursery, an extraordinary garden in the Japanese style was created. It impresses with colorful azaleas, Japanese maples, cherry trees or garden bonsai. All this is complemented with stone elements and interestingly designed aqueous compositions. Japanese climate can also be felt in a stylish tea room, which offers several dozen kinds of tea.
The church in Bestwina may have existed a long time ago, but there are not reliable sources which can prove it. The present brick church was built in the second half of the sixteenth century on the place of a wooden object. The equipment of the church includes the bell called "King of Glory," which has a war exile. On the nearby cemetery, Leon Karol Habsburg is buried. He was a Polish patriot - an officer fighting in the Polish-Bolshevik war
