The market square in Rybnik has served as the
center of the city since the Middle Ages. Old,
wooden buildings around the square were
destroyed in many fires, so the houses that
surround the market square come mainly from the
nineteenth and twentieth centuries. Worthy of note
is the Classicist town hall, decorated with a clock
tower, from the 20s of the nineteenth century. It
now houses, inter alia, the Rybnik Museum. A late
Baroque statue of Saint John of Nepomuk stands on
the market square.
