The Main Post Office building in Katowice, located at the beginning of Wolności Street, is one of the architectural symbols of the city. This monumental building was erected in 1892 in neo-Gothic, the style favored by architects of the German Empire. Thanks to its size and the use of brick, the building gives the impression of a medieval construction. It is intensified by the characteristic tower with an openwork helmet – a remnant of an overhead telecommunication system from the late nineteenth century.
