Chorzów Stary (Old Chorzów) is the oldest of the villages
that made up the city known since 1934 as Chorzów.
When Królewska Huta, a nearby town, enjoyed a period
of industrial boom in the nineteenth century, Chorzów
was still a village. Bożogrobców Street (Order of the Holy
Sepulcher Street) and Św. Jana Square (Saint John’s
Square) are situated in the center of the district. There
are characteristic farming houses, burgher houses and a
church of Mary Magdalene, whose first predecessor
stood here in the Middle Ages.
