The village of Jeleń was founded by the location decree of bishop Jan Muskata in 1303. It is now part of Jaworzno. The outskirts of Jeleń border on Libiąż, Chełmek and Chrzanów. The local church of the Elevation of the Holy Cross was created as an extension of the original chapel from the seventeenth century. A new consecration of the church took place In 1975. It was done by cardinal Karol Wojtyła.
