Mount Grojec is a picturesque, partly forested massif rising in the immediate vicinity of Żywiec, over the valleys of the Soła and Koszarawa rivers. At the top of the hill, the remains of a medieval fortress were discovered. Today, the mountain is visited mainly because of its scenic qualities. On the top of the so-called Średni Grojec a steel cross was set up in 1995 to commemorate the visit of Pope John Paul II in the city. A tourist trail and an educational path lead from Żywiec to Grojec.
