Jeleń is now a district of Jaworzno, located in the southern section of the Przemsza river. It is a very old, probably twelfth-century village, which is mentioned in the historical documents as early as 1242. However, the privilege was granted in the year 1303.In Jeleń there is a number of historical monuments, including the Church of the Exaltation of the Holy Cross from the seventeenth century, two chapels and an old, the seventeenth-century well, standing on the market square.
