The Church of St John the Baptist in Przyłęk Szlachecki


In Przyłęk Szlachecki, a small village on the Pilica, in the eastern part of the Silesian voivodeship, there is a fine, historic church of Saint John the Baptist. The first (wooden) church stood here as early as the fifteenth century. The current brick building dates from the second half of the eighteenth century. It was founded by Justyna Moszczeńska, nee Raczyńska. This is a Baroque building, which is surrounded with a nineteenth-century fence with two bell towers at the corners.

In the eastern part of Silesia naturists will find a great and unexpected attraction - the Pilica river valley. The most valuable part of it, which stretches between Koniecpol and Szczekociny, belongs to “Suchy Młyn” (Dry Mill), part of the Special Area of Conservation “Natura 2000”. The Pilica flows here in its natural riverbed, surrounded by forests and swamps. Visitors can also see otters and beavers, and rare species of plants.
Lelów
The church of St Nicholas in Nakło near Lelów was built around the turn of the seventeenth and eighteenth centuries. The building made of stone blocks replaced an old, wooden shrine, which had been for the first time mentioned in the Middle Ages. Inside the church there are many interesting Baroque monuments. There is a bell tower adjacent to the church. In the cemetery, one can see historic gravestones and a building of the former parish school.
Biała Wielka
In Bogumiłek, a picturesquely situated settlement among the woods settlement near the village of Biały Lelów, there are a well maintained park and manor buildings, which are nearly a hundred years old. The mansion was erected by Antoni Schütz in the 1920s. Antoni Schütz was a member of the distinguished family who contributed to the economic development of this region. They came to Poland from Saxony in the second half of the eighteenth century. Since 1969, the manor has housed the Jan Brzechwa Special Education Centre.
Lelów
Nakło is a small village located near Szczekociny, in the eastern part of Silesia. The village boasts two eighteenth-centuries, historic buildings: a church of St Nicholas and a Classicist palace. The palace was built by the Bystrzanowski family during the reign of the last Polish king - Stanislaw August Poniatowski. It is now privately owned and it houses a smart hotel. It is surrounded by a fine park.
Biała Wielka
Biała Wielka and its surroundings lie off the beaten track. The place is worth visiting. There are two historic manors and old milling facilities. Milling was a popular trade in the region. In Biała Wielka we can see a water mill from 1935, which is still in operation. A picturesque surrounding encourages walking and longer hikes. A visit to the mill can be combined with a short white water rafting on the Biała Lelowska river.
Biała Wielka
A small palace stands in the village of Biała Wielka near Lelów. It was built for Ignacy Zwierkowski at the turn of the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries. In the first half of the nineteenth century the owner of the palace was Walenty Zwierkowski, a legendary Napoleonic soldier, and later, it belonged to the Schuetzs, excellent administrators. After WW2, a school was housed in the palace, and now it is privately owned. The Classicist, two-storey building is surrounded with a landscape park.
