The Jewish cemetery in Jaworzno was founded in the second half of the nineteenth century, when the Jewish population living around the town grew to nearly a thousand. The cemetery was originally privately owned. At the beginning of the last century, it was taken over by a special association. Currently, the cemetery at Piłsudski Avenue occupies only a quarter of a hectare. There are the more than 300 graves preserved here, the oldest of which dates back to 1884.
