Szyndzielnia

Peak

Szyndzielnia (1026 m above sea level) - a peak in the Silesian Beskids.

The easiest way to get to Szyndzielnia is the cable car. The whole trip takes about 6 minutes. During this time, you can enjoy beautiful views. After entering the top, it is worth going to the observation tower to see the panorama of the city itself and the Beskid Mały and Śląski.

Write that Szyndzielnia boasts one of the three gondola lifts in Polish ski resorts, that's very little. Szyndzielnia, covered by the borders of Bielsko-Biała, has a densely written card in the chronicles of hiking and skiing in the Beskid Śląski. And the first dates come from the late nineteenth century. So we are dealing here with tradition and modernity.

About the cableway

The cable railway to Szyndzielnia in Bielsko-Biała was built by Austrians from the "Brüder Girak" company as early as 1953. Therefore, it is the second cable railway in Poland after the Kasprowy Wierch! The railway became a gondola after modernization in the years 1994-1995. In the "gondola race" she overtook both Jaworzyna Krynicka in Beskid Sądecki and Stóg Izerski in the Sudetenland. The bottom station is located in Olszówka, the Bielsko-Biała district, from where 6-passenger cars cover a distance of 1810 meters to reach the upper station under the Szyndzielnia peak, located at an altitude of nearly 960 meters. It serves tourists and pedestrians, as well as walkers who want to enjoy the wide panorama of even Bielsko-Biała. The owners even offer a VIP-class car, but this is for special occasions. Remember that Szyndzielnia is a "home" mountain for the inhabitants of Bielsko-Biała. Even administratively, it belongs to the city. German tourists from the Beskidenverein organization already in 1897 built a Kamitzer Platte shelter under the summit. Fortunately, it still serves mountain lovers, enjoying at the same time the well-deserved reputation of the oldest shelter in the Polish Beskids. Next to it there is a rock garden, which dates back to 1905. This is the work of the Bielsko-Biała, Edward Schnack. And even more interesting. Where did the Szyndzielnia name come from (also Szędzielnia). From the dialect term "szędzioły", or "shingles". Well, for centuries, not tourism, but trees were the real wealth of this mountain. Today, beautiful forests are protected in the "Stok Szyndzielnia" nature reserve.
