"Red Chemistry" is a popular name of the Faculty of Technology and Chemical Engineering of the Silesian University of Technology. The building was erected between 1906 and 1907, to a design by Wilhelm Kranz, a construction adviser, for the Royal School of Mechanical Engineering and Metallurgy. It was built in the neo-Gothic style, which was trendy in the early twentieth century, referring to the late medieval architecture in northern Germany
