n the second half of the seventeenth century, the followers of Lutheranism in Cieszyn Silesia suffered severe persecution by the arch Catholic Habsburgs. After expelling them by force from all the churches in the principality, they had to pray in secret. So-called forest churches come from that time. These were the remote places in the mountains, where Protestants met in secret devotions. One of them is a huge stone preserved to this day on top of Równica near Ustroń.
