This is one of the younger landscape parks in Poland, which was established in 1998. The Silesian Beskids form a mountain range, which in the area of the Polish Beskids and the whole Polish Carpathians is the westernmost mountain group. Its highest peak is Skrzyczne (1257 m). The second prominent massif (merging with Skrzyczne into one range) is Barania Góra (1220 m). The range of Barania Góra and Skrzyczne is the core part of these mountains, which clearly distinguish themselves from the two remaining parts of the Silesian Beskids: the western part culminating in the peak of Wielka Czantoria (995 m) and the northern part, where the highest peak is Klimczok (1117 m).
