It is widely known that the province of Silesia is famous for its good food. However, few realise its variety. Czech, Austrian, German and Jewish influences made the Silesian Province one of the most interesting culinary regions in Poland.
We would like to help you to make a good choice and recommend traditional and delicious food, therefore, the Silesian Tourist Organisation created Silesian Tastes Culinary Route bringing together restaurants from all over the province, in which you can taste regional products and dishes. A numer of them can be found on the List of Traditional Products made by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. These traditional tastes are at your hand. Food on the Trail
The dishes of the Culinary Route "Silesian Tastes" are prepared according to traditional recipes and show what is best in regional cuisine. Traveling along the Culinary Trail "Silesian Tastes" you can taste not only the typical Silesian cuisine. Not many people realize how diverse regional cuisine is in the current borders of the Silesian Voivodeship. Czech, Austrian, German, and finally Jewish influence - all this left its mark and made Silesian one of the most interesting culinary regions of Poland. Silesian cuisine, according to research, is one of the most recognizable regional cuisine in Poland. Nevertheless, it is not the only regional cuisine appearing in the current borders of the Silesian Voivodships.
To show the whole richness of culinary traditions within the Culinary Route, so-called "tables", i.e. Silesian, Jurassic, Zagłębie and Beskid table.

Festival "Silesian Tastes"
The enormous popularity of Silesian cuisine, its recognition and, above all, its extraordinary diversity, can be found during the annual celebration of regional cuisine - the "Silesian Tastes" Festival. It is organized each time in a different part of the province, which gives us the opportunity to learn about local delicacies and to take care of the culinary and cultural heritage of the region. Each festival is accompanied by a culinary competition in which participants, divided into categories, apply for the title of Expert of Silesian Tastes and a statuette of a golden, silver or brown colander.
