Szlak kajakowy - Kanał Gliwicki

Kanał Gliwicki jest drogą wodną łączącą przemysłowe miasta Górnego Śląska z Odrą. Całkowita długość Kanału Gliwickiego pomiędzy portami w Gliwicach i Kędzierzynie-Koźlu wynosi 40 km, a szlak kajakowy został wytyczony na odcinku 24 km od Gliwic do Ujazdu. Na tym odcinku znajdują się 3 śluzy umożliwiające pokonanie różnic poziomów wody –Łabędy Dzierżno i Rudziniec. Ich przepłynięcie jest możliwe w obu kierunkach i jest ogromną atrakcją dla kajakarzy. Spływanie kajakami po Kanale Gliwickim wymaga jednak przestrzegania zasad bezpieczeństwa, szczególnie przy śluzowaniu oraz ostrożności przy mijaniu z innymi jednostkami pływającymi. Nurt wody w Kanale Gliwickim nie jest silny, dlatego kajakiem można płynąć zarówno w stronę Kędzierzyna-Koźla, jak i Gliwic.

The Edifice of the Estate Management of Count Ballestrem in Gliwice

One of the most monumental buildings in Gliwice stands at 2 Prymasa Stefana Wyszyńskiego Street. It is the Voivodeship Administrative Court building, which was erected in the early 1920s, as the seat of the estate management of Count Ballestrem. This magnificent building was designed in the neo-Baroque style by Hans von Poellnitz, who had previously worked for the Ballestrems.

The Gliwice Canal

The Gliwice Canal connects Upper Silesian industrial cities with the Oder. This waterway is a little over 40 km long, and on average about 3.5 m deep. The difference in height in water levels between between the ports in Gliwice and Koźle is 44 m. The construction of the canal started in 1934 and was completed in 1939. The Gliwice Canal was then the most modern waterway in Europe. Today, it plays an increasingly important role as a tourist attraction.

"The Museum of Sanitary Technology is the youngest museum in Gliwice. It was founded in 2005. It is located within premises of the Central Wastewater Treatment Plant, which until recently, was not a tourist attraction. In the renovated and stylish building of the pumping stations from the beginning of the last century, one can see some old sewage treatment equipment and a few decade old sanitary fittings, and afterwards, we can take a tour of the still operating plant, built for the twenty first century."

The cemetery was established in the 1920s in response to the demand of the growing city on the Kłodnica river. It has an oval layout, with a symmetrical arrangement of plots and alleys.
