The origins of the Castle of Bielsko-Biała date from the Piast dynasty, but it owes its present eclectic appearance to the Sułkowski family, who were its owners from the middle of the 18th century to 1945. Nowadays, the castle houses collections of the Bielsko-Biała Museum. During the visit to the castle we can experience the past elegance and learn more about the history of the city, admiring old and contemporary art, and even listen to good music.

It was built in the nineteenth century, and soon - because of its convenient location - replaced the Old Town Square. The present form of the square is the result of the idea from the beginning of this century. The square is dominated by the Castle of the Sulkowski Dukes. The buildings around the square represent different architectural styles. The square has an area of 3600 square metres. In the east it is adjacent to busy 3 Maja Street and to the south to Wzgórze Street.

It is yet another building designed by Karol Korn, an outstanding and of merit for the city. The landmark splendid building with a clock and city’s coat of arms was erected in 1889. The edifice combines the NeoRenaissance and Baroque styles, and the interior represents the Neo-Rococo and Secession styles.

The Main Post Office is one of the most emblematic buildings of Bielsko-Biala. It is one of the main landmarks of the city. The building with its characteristic dome and the statues of Jupiter and Mercury was erected at a record pace in the period of twelve months from 1897 to 1898. It is one of the buildings designed by Karol Korn, a famous architect from Bielsko. The post office still operates in this historic building nowadays.

Today's Polish Theatre was established in 1890. It was then a city theatre. It is located in the historical part of the city known as the Lower Suburb, which today is part of the center of Bielsko-Biala. The theatre building was built between 1889-1890. It was designed by the Viennese architect Emil von Förster. This is another building that testifies to the cultural unity of Central Europe. According to the concept of the architect it clearly refers to the Vienna State Opera and the National Theatre in Budapest.

This part of the city, which was originally surrounded with defence walls, is currently limited by Chrobry Square (Plac Chrobrego) and Orkana, Waryńskiego, Zamkowa, Św. Trójcy Streets.
