Interestingly, the development of the presently defunct spa in Jastrzębie is associated with the drilling accompanied the search for coal. In 1859, during the drilling conducted on the initiative of Emil von Schlieben, owner of Jastrzębie Dolne, a spring of iodine-bromine brine discovered. A year later Count Felix von Königsdorff bought the village and started building care and health facilities. He changed its name to Bad Königsdorff-Jastrzemb.
Dąbrówka *** Hotel is located in the building of an old sanatorium. It was built in 1905, and in 1997 completely modernized the interior for the hotel, preserving the historic character of the building.
One of the monuments along the Wooden Architecture Trail is a church of St. Anna (19th c.) in Gołkowice, which is located in the southern part of the trail, in the Wodzisław district. The village is situated on the Szotkówka and Piotrówka rivers. It is an old village, already mentioned in the first half of the thirteenth century. The present church was built in 1878, but there was a chapel of Saint Michael which the site of worship for the ducal court residing in Gołkowice.
Empire palace in Frysztat (Karwina, Czech Republic) former was a wooden Gothic castle founded by the Piast princes of nearby Cieszyn. Frysztat became the second residence of the dynasty after Cieszyn itself. In 1792 Frysztat was bought by the Count of Larisch-Mönnich. The palace was to remain in their hands until 1945. The Frysztat castle was an example of the pure Empire style. In front of the main building was built an ornamental park. In 1997 the object was renovated and opened to the public. Inside the palace is one of the most marvellous library across the Czech Republic. In the neighborhood is located the old town and parkland area with rare species of trees.
The Castle Brewery in Cieszyn was founded by Charles
Ludwig Hapsburg, archduke of Cieszyn in the 1840s. It
continued old medieval traditions of the local brewers,
offering at the same time a new product, which was the then
popular beer of the pilsner type. Today, together with the
Żywiec Brewery, it belongs to the Heineken Company.
Since 2012, residents of Cieszyn and tourists coming to the city have been crossing the Olza river over the Sport Bridge. This nearly one-hundred-meter long bridge links Polish and Czech Cieszyn at the point where along the two banks of the river, there are attractive recreation areas, including the Park "Pod Wałką" and the Adam Sikora Park. An interesting bike paths runs over the bridge, which forms a loop around the whole city of Cieszyn.
