Trasa wyprawy muzealno-artystycznej przewidziana jest na niewiele ponad 22 km. Swój początek ma w Muzeum Śląskim. Na zwiedzających czekają tam wspaniałe wystawy, m.in. „W drukarni Jana Eichorna”, w której znajdują się maszyny sprzed I wojny światowej (jest wśród nich m.in. zszywarka oraz maszyna do pełnoformatowego druku płaskiego).

Kolejny przystanek wycieczki prowadzi do Muzeum Historii Katowic - Dział Etnologii Miasta, w którym na zwiedzających czekają wspaniałe wystawy. Jedna z nich pt. „Mistrzowie Grupy Janowskiej” - wystawa prac malarskich 4 najsłynniejszych członków tej grupy: T. Ociepki, P. Wróbla, E. Gawlika i E. Sówki. Grupa Janowska zrzesza artystów amatorów - m. in. górników KWK „Wieczorek”, silnie związanych z Nikiszowcem i pobliskimi miejscowościami, co uwidocznione jest w tematyce obrazów. Zapraszamy również na wystawę stałą „U nos w doma na Nikiszu” - ekspozycję przedstawiającą wnętrze typowego mieszkania robotniczego na nikiszowieckim osiedlu. Obiekt zlokalizowany jest w historycznym budynku dawnej osiedlowej pralni i magla.

Kolejno, szlak zwiedzania wiedzie do Galerii Szyb Wilson (SZT), stanowiącej jedną z największych galerii w Europie Środkowej. Liczy blisko 2500 m². Galeria ta mieści się w pokopalnianym szybie dawnej kopalni „Wieczorek”.

Wyprawa ma swoje zwieńczenie w Centralnym Muzeum Pożarnictwa (SZT), w którym zawiera się bogata i niezwykle ciekawa historia straży pożarnej, sięgająca 146 lat wstecz. Zbiory muzeum zawierają m.in.: pojazdy konne, sikawki ręczne, motopompy przenośne i przewoźne oraz medale, odznaki i odznaczenia.

Silesian Museum

The complex of buildings of the Silesian Museum, situated in the former Katowice coal mine, along with other institutions which are being built here will create the so-called Cultural District - the new centre of cultural life for the city. The coal mine "Katowice" operated from the third decade of the nineteenth century until the end of the last century. In total, about 120 million tons of coal were mined. Characteristic old buildings have remained of the mine, many of whom were built as early as the nineteenth century, and each individual building was given the features inspired by the Romanesque and Gothic styles.

The Museum of the History of Katowice

The Museum of the History of Katowice was founded in 1983 as a continuation of the Social Museum of the History of Katowice and a branch of the Upper Silesian Museum. Currently, the museum is housed in an Art Nouveau building located in the city center street, at the Księdza Szafranka Street. The museum invites you to see two permanent exhibitions: one is devoted to the history of Katowice; the other presents recreated house interiors of the middle and upper classes. The Museum holds a collection of pastels by Stanislaw Ignacy Witkiewicz - Witkacy.
