The Żywiecki County has excellent conditions for winter sports. Tourists may use numerous ski lifts and superbly prepared pistes. The skiing season starts here in the end of November to last until the end of April. The largest skiing and snowboard centres are in Zwardoń and Korbielów. Snow is lying on the slopes of one of the highest peaks in Beskid Żywiecki, Pilsko (1557 m asl) until late spring. The skiing centres usually have several ski lifts. The pistes are well lit and artificially snowed, the catering facilities and skiing equipment rental facilities and service points are numerous, and skiing instructors guarantee satisfaction of the tourists. Many of the trails and bicycle routes may be used in winter time for cross-country skiing and skitours. The most famous ski resort is ZwardońSki (www.zwardon-ski.pl).
