Szymlyna with dumplings (Silesian dessert served in cups)



  • 1 jar of plums
  • 5 dag butter
  • 1 tablespoon plain wheat flour
  • salt
  • sugar
  • lemon or vinegar
  • cream to taste

Batter dumplings:

  • 30 dag wheat flour (mąka wrocławska)
  • 0,5 glass water
  • 1 pinch baking soda or 0.5 teaspoonful baking soda
  • 1 egg
  • salt




Prepare roux with butter and flour, brown it. Add plums together with juice, season to taste. At the end, add cream to your liking.

Batter dumpling:

Mix all ingredients so that batter has thick creamy consistency. Leave for half an hour. Boil water with salt and 1 spoonful oil or butter. Drop batter with teaspoon onto boiling water. When dumplings rise to surface, take them out with slotted spoon. Top with szymlyna. A dish to be served on a deep plate.

"Szymlyna" is a special Silesian dessert: lane kluski (poured noodles) with delicious plum sauce.
