Pumpkin compote

Ingredients:

  • 1 pumpkin
  • For every 1 kg of pumpkin add:
    – 5-6 cloves
    – 2 cinnamon sticks
    – 3-4 tbs vinegar to taste
    – 1 packet vanilla-flavored sugar
    – 300-400 g sugar
    – a pinch of ginger

 

Directions:

First, boil all the spices: cloves, cinnamon sticks, vinegar, sugar, vanilla sugar and ginger for 10 minutes. Once you get the right flavor, add the pumpkin pulp and boil everything for 15-20 minutes, depending on how tender the pumpkin is.

 

 

 

This meal was prepared by the Country Homemakers’ Association from Ornontowice during the 2nd "Silesian Tastes Festival 2007" in Cieszyn. The Team won 1st place in amateur category.
