Cheery szpajza (Silesian dessert)


Sponge cake:

  • 5 eggs
  • 5 spoonfuls sugar
  • 5 spoonfuls plain wheat flour


  • 30 dag butter
  • 3 eggs
  • 6 spoonfuls sugar
  • whipping cream (30 %)
  • 25 ml spirit
  • 1,5 jars of stoned cherries from cherry liquor
  • 25 dag almonds
  • 25 dag hazelnuts



Make sponge cake, sprinkle it with liquor and dice. Prepare cream by beating eggs with sugar, add butter and a small shot glass of spirit. In bowl, make layers of sponge cake, cream mixed with nuts and cherries. Top with whipped cram.

Excellent dessert with consistency of a milk soufflé, served on special occasions.



This meal was prepared by the Village Women's Club from Ornontowice during the 3rd “Silesian Tastes Festival 2008” in Racibórz. The Team won 1st place in amateur category.
