Sauerkraut soup with smoked pork knuckle


  • 1 corned pork knuckle– smoked
  • 3 litres water
  • bunch of mixed vegetables
  • allspice
  • bay leaf
  • pepper grains
  • 1 litre sauerkraut
  • 2-3 cloves garlic
  • 1 kg boiled potatoes



Pre-cook the smoked meat with herbs for 1 hour,
Add cabbage and continue cooking – make sure it’s sour.
When the meat and sauerkraut are tender,
Season to taste to add some splendour.
When the freshly boiled potatoes are in
Your delicious dinner may begin.


This meal was prepared by the Village Women's Club from Kobiernice during the 4th “Silesian Tastes Festival 2009” in Pszczyna. The Team won 1st place in amateur category.
