The Church of St Catherine in Woźniki

Woźniki is one of the oldest towns in Silesia. The local church was built in the Gothic style in the fourteenth century. Over the centuries, it was rebuilt in the Renaissance and Baroque styles, and finally received it present-day form. The parish of St Catherine of Alexandria in Woźniki belongs to the Diocese of Gliwice. It is also home to the deanery. A lot of the local traditions are associated with the patron saint of the church, a martyr from the turn of the third and fourth centuries.

Woźniki, a small town situated on the north-eastern edge of historical Silesia, can boast of the history dating back to medieval times. Thanks to it, in the town, we can see a medieval urban layout with a centrally located market square and a grid plan of streets and residential quarters. The pride of the market square is a well-maintained old parish church and the nineteenth-century, neo-Classicist town hall.
The Florianek Hill rises north of Woźniki. On its top, there is an imposing monument commemorating the soldiers of the 5th Mounted Rifle Regiment and the 3rd Silesian Cavalry Regiment Cavalry of the Kraków Brigade, who died here on the second of September, 1939, during the fierce fighting with the advancing German troops. Graves with the names of 18 perished soldiers from the both regiments can be found in Woźniki itself, in the parish cemetery.
Woźniki is a town located in the district of Lubliniec. Its main monument is the Church of St Valentine. It is a log cabin construction building with baroque furnishings. In the nineteenth century, Józef Lompa, a Silesian poet and preacher of Polish national consciousness, lived with his daughter in Woźnik, where he died. Lompa founded a public libraryin the town. He is buried in the cemetery at the Church of St. Valentine. There are also tombs of Silesian insurgents in this graveyard.
Mzyki is a small, picturesque village located in the commune of Koziegłowy, about 35 km from Częstochowa. There is a church built in the 90s of the twentieth century, of which patron saint is Saint Jean Marie Vianney, and to whom the sanctuary is dedicated. It is the branch church of the parish in Gniazdowo. Saint Jean Marie Vianney, the patron saint of the local church, is also the patron saint of parsons today. He lived in the French countryside during 1786-1859.
Czarny Las
The palace in Czarny Las (Black Forest), a village south of Częstochowa, owes its present look to the time, when Kazimierz Niegolewski was its owner. Roger Sławski, an architect from Poznań and the builder of the palace, gave an elegant shape to the building. The palace went in history, as a place of political meetings, in which Wojciech Korfanty himself participated in 1921.
The church of Saint Lawrence in Cynków (near Koziegłowy) was built in the seventeenth century. What fairly unusual, we know the name of the builder. It was Walenty Ruray, a carpenter from Pyskowice. The wooden building was erected in a special vertical-post log construction. That is the only church in Silesia built in this way. The walls and roof are covered with shingle. Above the roof, there is a metal turret.
