Bieńkowice is one of the villages close to Racibórz, which was mentioned in the middle of the fourteenth century. There is a baroque church of All Saints in the village. It was built in the first half of the eighteenth century, replacing an earlier building standing here. The village is known equestrian procession for its horse procession held on Easter Monday. This tradition on Polish soil is cultivated only in a few villages of Silesia.
The village of Bieńkowice lies at the mouth of the Psina River into the Oder within the commune of Krzyżanowice on the road from Racibórz to Chałupki. The settlement was for the first time mentioned in 1283, but it may have existed a hundred years earlier. There are a few monuments, among them a private museum which is particularly worth visiting. It reminds of the local blacksmith traditions associated with the forge operating more than three hundred years ago. It was established by the Socha family in the second half of the seventeenth century
Tworków is a large village near Racibórz. It prides itself on many interesting, high-class monuments. All visitors will be impressed with the local Baroque church with an unusually rich interior decoration, as well as with the ruins of an immense palace. Even a less imposing building, a hundred-year-old mill overlooking the picturesque pond is worth visiting. From ten generations on, it has belonged to the Pawlik family. Inside, there are old machines and equipment.
In Tworków, a large village on the Oder, near Racibórz, apart from the ruins of the castle, we can visit the church of Saints Peter and Paul, which is visible from a distance because of its 40- meter-tall tower. The inside the late seventeenthcentury church there are some interesting altars and remains of trompe l'oeil Baroque murals. The church also houses an ancestral crypt of the Reiswitz family, the former owners of the village.
Tworków is a small, but old village near Racibórz. There are a few monuments including the ruins of a castle which are worth seeing. Originally, the castle had been a Gothic medieval building, which was rebuilt into a Renaissance residence, and later converted into a fancy neo-Renaissance palace. The building, which unfortunately burned down in the interwar years, is now a picturesque ruin.
In the southern part of the Silesian Voivodeship, on the Oder river, there is a special, protected area of habitats in the Natura 2000 network, known as the “Forest near Tworków”. It covers more than 115 hectares. Within the refuge, valuable in terms of nature are oxbow lakes and ponds, as well as hornbeam and riparian forests, which dominate the landscape. There are rare species of animals and plants, here.
