The Wodąca river valley lies in the Kraków- Częstochowa Upland, in the region of Wolbrom and Pilica, to be exact, between the villages of Domaniewice and Smoleń. The largely forested region of fine and varied landscapes is dotted with numerous limestone outcroppings. There is not a permanent watercourse in the valley. This phenomenon is often found in some areas of the Polish Jura and it is associated with limestone bedrock, easily permeable to water. In the valley there are a number of caves. The oldest human traces in Poland were discovered In the local cave of Biśnik.
