Ślemień
Ślemień is a large Beskid village situated to the east of Żywiec. It can boast of its colorful history including one industrial episode. In the 18th century, for a short period of time, a smelter operated in the capital of the Ślemień state. The smelter was used to smelt iron from the bog ores. To this day, stone ruins of the smelter have remained in the vicinity of the parish church.
Ślemień
The village of Ślemień lies in the valley of the Łękawka stream, which separates the southern slopes of the Little Beskids from the Pewelskie Range of the Little Beskids. The beginnings of settlement in these areas date to the thirteenth century. One of the monuments of the village is the church of Saint John the Baptist, which was built in the mid-nineteenth century. This building is not the first the local church, but stands on the site of the earlier wooden shrines successively constructed here.

The sanctuary called “Jasna Górka” situated within the property of the parish in Ślemień, which is located amid picturesque hills of the Pewelskie Mountain Range, is a pilgrimage destination in the land of Żywiec. This center of Marian cult, famous for miracles and the venerated image, has been known for a very long time. Pilgrims have come here not only from the Polish lands, but also from Slovakia and Moravia. The image of Our Lady is a nineteenth-century copy of the Częstochowa icon painted by Błażej Luks.
Kocoń
In Kocoń, a village between the Little Beskid and the Pewelski Range in the Makowski Beskid, there is the Chapel of the Transfiguration, which commemorates (according to tradition) a battle from the time of the Bar Confederation. The chapel was erected by Father Antoni Antałkiewicz in the 1860s, in the Centennial of the Confederation. This stone building is covered with a gable roof and topped with a turret. Inside, there is an altar with an image of Christ and a statue of Christ the Man of Sorrows.
