Dębieńsko, which until 1977 was a separate village, is now
one of the four districts of the town of CzerwionkaLeszczyny, lying in its north-eastern part. The history of the
parish dates back probably to the thirteenth century. The
church of Saint George, which in the present form is the
result of over two hundred years of successive
reconstructions, is a building erected at the turn of the
eighteenth and nineteenth century in the place of the
former medieval wooden church.
In the mid-90s of the last century, one of the first
weather radars in Poland was mounted on a wooded
hill called “Ramża”, near Rybnik. Its task is to monitor
violent weather phenomena and a cyclic data transfer
to the operation center. After the modernization in
2010, the radar became the most modern of all eight
such devices installed in Poland.

The workers’ colony in Czerwionka (part of the
commune and town of Czerwionka-Leszczyny in the
Rybnik district) is one of over two hundred such
colonies in Silesia. It was built in the years 1899-1916
for the workers of the Dębieńsko mine. This interesting
complex consists of 98 buildings, most of which are
brick family houses of very interesting architecture. The
colony is considered by historians as one of the most
valuable settlement, and has been entered in the
register of historic monuments.
In the village of Bełk, located in the district of Rybnik, there is an, eighteenth-century wooden Church of Saint Mary Magdalene. Besides the monument, which is recently unfortunately closed, one can see attractive landscapes. The church is adjacent to the ponds and the Bierawka river, which are part of the landscape park “Cistercian Landscape Compositions”. The church in Bełk is situated on the Wooden Architecture Trail of the Silesia province.
