How was it created?
"Dąbrowskie Lake District" was created thanks to the activities of Zagłębie and Silesia mines. In areas located north of today's Dąbrowa Górnicza center, for decades they acquired the so-called filling sand and filled with post-mining voids. The resulting excavations, not reclaimed, were filled with clean water. In the first reservoir it came mainly from the small river Pogoria. That is why the name of all other reservoirs came from.

Lake complex
Lake Pogoria I (area of about 73 ha) was established in 1943. In times of the Polish People's Republic, its shores were well developed, so that people came here for holidays. Currently, it is a favorite place for recreation and holiday for the inhabitants of Zagłębie. Guests accept hotels and guest houses, restaurants and pubs are open. The offer is wide both for sunbathers and lovers of water sports. It must be remembered that Pogoria I has been attracting admirers of sailing and canoeing since 1950 - many sailing clubs operate here. It is worth mentioning that on Pogoria I was trained once a world champion in motorboat sports - Waldemar Marszałek.

Pogoria II is protected as ecological use. It covers the reservoir and coastal areas. Near the lake there was a very quick regeneration of the environment close to natural. Specialists can recognize here the following plant communities: rushes, grasslands, thickets, riparian forests, marshy and aquatic communities. The rare plants are found here, among others yellow water lily, white waterlily, crumbles and buckthorn. Interesting fungi meet a raspberry whisk. Birds are the biggest wealth of Pogoria II. The smallest Polish heron, or little bittern, is found in the "Polish Red Book of Animals" (listed in it species particularly endangered with extinction). Apart from the bourgeoisie, Pogoria also liked the fire stations and beautifully colored kingfishers. You can meet many species of warriors here. The lagoon is also a perfect breeding place for amphibians; its clean waters have taken many fish species. However, only members of the Polish Angling Association are authorized to fish. The ecological site Pogoria II was created in 2002 by the resolution of the City Council in Dąbrowa Górnicza. Its area is about 40 ha.

The youngest lake created in the 21st century is Pogoria IV (officially called "Kuźnica Warężyńska"). It is also the largest - it has about 560 ha. It has been assigned a flood protection role, and sand is still here.

Nature
"Pojezierze Dąbrowskie", thanks to clean water and vast green areas, is a refuge of many plants and animals, including protected species. All tanks are a great place for fishing. In Dąbrowa Górnicza, these excavations were not recultivated (as elsewhere), but nature was allowed to be reborn here.
