The Sixth Secondary Comprehensive School in Katowice Szopienice is one of the best high schools in the city. Its distinctive brick building stands at the intersection of Lwowska Street and Powstańców Śląskich Square (Silesian Insurgents’ Square). The building was erected in 1904 as a school for girls, which is obvious from the reliefs on the facade. In 1921, the High Command of the Third Silesian Uprising was stationed here. The secondary school was established here in 1947.
