The Parish Church of Saint Leonard Abbot in Mykanów was built in the first half of the nineteenth century. Previously, there had been at least two successive, wooden churches on this site, because the history of the parish goes back to medieval times. The present, neo-Gothic church was designed by Enrico Marconi, an outstanding architect of Italian origins, who worked on Polish lands in the first half of the nineteenth century.
The Parish Church of Saint Matthias in Kruszyna, a communal village situated north of Częstochowa, was built in the second half of the seventeenth century, when the owner of the village was the wealthy family of the Denhoffs. The church was expanded and modernized several times, but it has retained the Baroque style. The most impressive is the the main facade with two slender towers. Above the gate of the church we can see a figure of Christ, which brought here from Krakowskie Przedmieście, a district of Warsaw.
The palace in Kruszyn was built at the initiative of Kasper Denhoff, a local land owner, in the first half of the seventeenth century. The residence was built by Thomas Poncini, an Italian architect, who built a magnificent conservatory and perhaps Poland's first private theater building. The impressive palace was erected in the Mannerism and Baroque styles. It was fortified and surrounded by a French park.
The Aero Club of Częstochowa has been operating at the foot of Jasna Góra since 1945. It offers participation in the following sections, such as plane flying, micro gliding, paragliding, gliding, parachuting, and model-making. The eminent pilots, such as Janusz Daroch, a multiple world champion, as well as of Poland and Europe, are associated with the club. The home airfield of the Aero is located in Rudniki, near Częstochowa. It was built during the Second World War, and long served military purposes.
The palace in Nieznanice is located in the north of Częstochowa, on the road to Radom. Aurelius Wünsche, a local landowner, built it during the First World War. This Eclectic building alludes to historical styles and Art Nouveau. It is dominated by a squat tower rising from the back. The palace is currently used as a hotel. The building is surrounded by a small park.
Rudniki, a village situated north of Częstochowa, is known mainly from an airfield, which is used by the Aero Club of Częstochowa and large industrial companies - cement and chemical plants. Interestingly, industrial traditions of Rudniki date back to the mid-nineteenth century, and their remnants are huge, brick lime kilns. An unusual phenomenon of Rudniki is the Emerald Cave, which was recently discovered in the local quarry.
