The Przeczycki Water Reservoir is one of the popular recreation destinations for the residents of Upper Silesia. It was created on the Czarna Przemsza river in 1963. It is located a few miles southwest of Siewierz. You can go fishing, Sailing or do motor boating sports there. The retention reservoir serves as a protection from flooding and secures an ecological flow for the lower-lying areas.
The Biały Dom Sports and Leisure Centre in Boguchwałowice is a place where you can relax enjoying the peace and quiet, admiring the beauty of the surrounding wildlife of the Przeczycko-Siewierski Lagoon. You can choose more active forms of recreation in the open. Horseback riding, carriage rides, boat cruises and Sailing in the lagoon can make your stay at Biały Dom even more attractive.
The church of Saint Nicholas in Targoszyce stands on a bare hill. It is visible from a distance. The oldest part of the building - the sanctuary - was founded in the Middle Ages. The nave and the tower were erected in the second half of the eighteenth century. Therefore, the Baroque dome immediately captures our sight. Inside, there is a Gothic portal leading to the sacristy. The rest of the interior is decorated in the Baroque style.
Wojkowice Kościelne
Wojkowice Kościelne is a village in the Zagłębie Dąbrowskie, located in the commune of Siewierz, in the district of Będzin. The church of Saint Martin is one of its monuments, which is particularly noteworthy. Its shape is the result of accumulating several styles from different centuries. However, its origins, visible in the preserved parts of the building, date back to the early years of the thirteenth century. It is at the same time the shrine of Our Lady of Good Voyage.
The church of Saint John the Baptist in Siewierz is one of the oldest in Poland. It may have been built before 1144. Its walls made of slabs, small size, The modest, small building devoid of decoration, whose walls are made of slabs, points to its Romanesque origins. According to the fifteenth - century chronicler, Jan Długosz, the founder of the church was Piotr Włostowic called Dunin, palatine of Prince Bolesław Wrymouth. He was a significant figure and the person was the subject of legends. The church of Saint John Baptist testifies to the great importance of Siewierz at the beginning of the Polish state.
The small, one-nave church of Saints Barbara and Valentine in Siewierz was built in 1618, as an infirmary church. It replaced the previous wooden structure standing on the same site. Inside the church, there is the equipment from the first half of the seventeenth century, among which it is worth paying attention to the Baroque altars. The portraits of the main patron saints of the church, Saint Barbara of Nicomedia and Saint Valentine are placed in the high altar.
