Gołonoskie Hill in Dąbrowa Górnicza is an elevation
covered with old trees, which rises to a height of 335 m
above sea level. Therefore, it is an excellent vantage
point for the entire Dąbrowskie Basin. In good weather
conditions, one can see the Polish Jura and even the
Beskids. The oldest monument of Dąbrowa Górnicza -
the seventeenth-century church of Saint Anthony of
Padua – is situated on the hill, which is a protected
nature and landscape area.
Dąbrowa Górnicza, known primarily for the former Huta
Katowice steel mill, boasts remarkable wildlife.
Surprisingly, in the city with a 200-year-old industrial
tradition, there are more than 60 species of protected
plants. One of the most interesting wildlife areas is the
ecological site called Pogoria II.
The church of the Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary and
Saint Anthony of Padua on the Gołonoski Hill is the oldest
architectural monument in Dąbrowa Górnicza. The church
was built in the Baroque style in the 1670s. It was later
extended several times. Currently, there is a three-nave
basilica with a tower covered with a spherical dome. The
interior design comes mainly from the late nineteenth and
early twentieth centuries.
The Dąbrowa Górnicza Ząbkowice railroad station is one
of the historic buildings situated along the WarsawVienna Railway. The first train pulled into the station in
Ząbkowice in 1847, a year before the completion of the
entire route. It is interesting that the local ticket office,
which was finally closed in 2011, had been the longest
operating ticket office of all at the train stations in
The Dąbrowskie Basin has its own small lake district – the
Dąbrowskie Lake District. This somewhat boisterous name
is sometimes referred to a group of the four reservoirs in
Dąbrowa Górnicza, known collectively as Pogoria. For
years, Pogoria I and Pogoria III have been leisure and
recreation centers. Their beaches, spas, guest houses,
pubs, clubs, and yacht clubs attract visitors. Anglers are
fond of the reservoirs, as are rare species of birds. The
largest lake - Pogoria IV still awaits land management.
Akweny upodobali sobie wędkarze i... rzadkie gatunki ptaków. Na zagospodarowanie czeka największe jezioro – Pogoria IV.
